Whenever a friend asks me to photograph her birth, I get all sorts of excited! Not only will I get to be a part of such a special day, but I get to watch her begin her journey into motherhood and speaking from experience, there is no greater feeling. This was the case when Sarah text me back in October with the big news! I was so happy for her and her husband (Scott), who was also looking forward to becoming a dad! I have had the honor of getting to know this sweet couple for awhile now and each time spent with them, makes me wish we lived closer to each other. They are so funny and I knew their little guy was going to have such a blessed life ahead! Fast forward 9 months and it’s finally baby day (or so we thought!)  Sarah was in the hospital Friday for an induction but Mr. Lincoln had other plans, he decided he didn’t want to come out the traditional method and instead was going to be taken out by c- section that following Sunday. I headed up that morning and was praying the entire time that the hospital staff would allow me into the OR with Sarah. I didn’t want her to have to miss out on birth photos she had been looking forward to for so long, so when the anesthesiologist said “Of course! The more the merrier” we both exhaled a sigh of relief and off we all went to the OR! We got to watch everything, there were no limits on what I could and count not photograph so that was awesome! Within minutes Lincoln Scott made his appearance to the world! He was beautiful. The nurses took over and it had appeared that he took a big gulp of water just before coming out so his lungs weren’t clearing out as fast as they would have liked. They weren’t too worried, but they did want to observe him for a bit so Scott and I went to the NICU with him for a couple hours and that was all he needed! He was back in his mamas arms where he was greeted with many family members waiting to hear what his name was going to be! (Sarah and Scott had kept it a secret until now) I am so happy for Sarah and Scott as they begin this new life together. I am hoping for many play-dates in our future and look forward to seeing this handsome little boy grow up!

xoxo
